Nothing like a previous Hwy Patrol Vehicle to get drivers to move over when coming up behind them.
If it weren’t for the horrible MPG, this would be a great work car. V-8 Hemi and AWD. Plus, the search light could come in handy too.

A friend back when I was a teen told me that headlight waggers were legal too. Imagine if you could flick those on and give the left land hogs a minor heart attack.

I watched this play out on I-10. The cop finally put on all his lights to get the left lane hog to move over.

A bit off topic, but one of my person pet peeves in automotive design is when the rear door handles are significantly higher up than the fronts. Especially on CUV/SUVs because not only is it over done, but also the back seat is for kids, kids who are short, and need to be able to reach things, so why put them up higher?
I also just think it looks odd.

Yes, but Hemi V-8 and AWD
. That absolves those who have
sinned against God and man
. Blessed are those who acknowledge sin, and forgive. For those who forgive, may ride upon the chariots of Gods, and know they are righteous
. Be though a forgiving man, and take thy place upon the throne of V-8 power, and clear a path through slow and pedantic hordes who heed not the call of the Charger of God. They will be dispersed among the heathen, who shall forever pilot a Chevy Aveo until the End Times!

“If it weren’t for the horrible MPG, this would be a great work car.”
Well the solution is to get one with the V6 and RWD like this one

No, the solution is to stop complaining baout the extra $200 a year the V8 costs in gas.

Had a black Charger for a few years. Can confirm the moving-over of people from the left lane.

If you get it, please paint it a color other than a variation of black, grey, or white. I hate all the people driving around in Explorers or Chargers like that. It gives me a fright even when I’m not doing anything wrong.

Actually it’s more like $700/year according to fueleconomy.gov
And it can be a bit more or a bit less depending on which state.
In my own case, the AWD Hemi Charger would cost me around CAD$3600/year in fuel.
A 3.6L/8speed auto RWD Charger would only cost me around CAD$2600/year in fuel.
And my Honda Fit only costs me around CAD$1700/year in fuel.
As you can see, the fuel cost difference isn’t as minor as you think it is.

I think it would work if they just angled the handles slightly to put them on the same plane.

A cording to Fuelly, V6 Chargers average around 21 MPG. A 12k miles/year and $3 a gallon, you’re spending around $1,700 a year in gas. 5.7 Chargers vary a little more, but they tend to average around 18- 21 mpg, but going with 19 MPG and assuming a $3.20/gallon for mid grade gas, you’re spending a hair over $2k a year on fuel. So you’re right; I was off, but only by $100 a year. Obviously, comparing a V8 AWD model with a 5 speed vs a rwd V6 with an 8 speed will throw these numbers off. Using Canadian dollars and fuel costs will also change the equation, b ut I think ~ $300/year is a relatively small amount to pay for the V8 experience.

The older V6 chargers with the 5 speed auto get worse mileage than the ones with the 8 speed auto. And in the 2014 model year, both transmissions were available.
I personally rented an AWD V6 Charger that had the 8 speed auto and I got around 10L/100km (mostly highway)... which is around 23 mpg (US gallons). The RWD one should do about 10% better.
And that’s the thing I don’t like about Fuelly. You can’t always be sure exactly which spec is getting the given mileage and the driving style leads to a lot of variability. That’s why I like referencing the EPA numbers... it’s an apples-to-apples comparison.
So in that apples-to-apples comparison, going from a V6 RWD Charger to one with AWD/Hemi means your fuel costs will increase by 35-40%.
It doesn’t matter what currency it’s in... that’s the approximate difference in percentages and it’s not a small amount.
Also:
“ 5.7 Chargers vary a little more, but they tend to average around 18-21 mpg,”
No friggin’ way unless it’s a RWD one with the 8 speed auto driven VERY gently.
And again... most of the numbers you’re seeing on fuelly are *probably* RWD ones, not AWD ones.
But it’s hard to say for sure.
Here’s a Pursuit Charger... and it’s averaging in the 15 mpg range
Here’s another one with lots of city driving that is averaging in the 8mpg range.
No friggin’ way does a Pursuit Charger with the Hemi/AWD and 5 speed auto average 18-21 mpg without doing some serious hypermiling.
The only time it truly makes a very small cash difference on an annual basis are for those who don’t drive much.
For my situation, that AWD/Hemi combo would cost me around CAD$1000/year over the 8speed V6 RWD Charger.... or CAD$1900/year more when compared to my Fit... a dollar amount big enough that I’d take a pass on having a daily V8 Hemi/AWD driving experience.
